Greek yogurt, honey and walnuts dessert

by viviana on August 6, 2012 in Desserts

We toured Greece in 2005, and I still have the most beautiful memories from that trip :). One of the culinary highlights of our trip was the wonderful yogurt, honey and walnuts dessert. The Greeks use a sort of thick and sourish yogurt that beautifully contrasts with the sweetness of honey. Since then, I have been serving this dessert to my daughter, Granny and guests and I have to admit, I have used it (just like in Greece) as a nice ending to my daughter’s breakfast or dinner sometimes.

Ingredients for 1 helping: 200 g sour yogurt, 1 tbls (crushed) walnuts, 1 tbls honey, optional 1/2 tbls sweet jam (preferably made of cherry, grapes, berries, etc)

Yield: 2 servings.

Time: 5 min.

It takes 5 minutes to prepare (it took more time to take the photos, that’s for sure).

Put the yogurt in nice bowl, sprinkle with walnuts and then drizzle honey. Optionally, add some sweet jam on top. Enjoy this rich Greek dessert!
