by viviana on August 30, 2012 in Festive,Mains

We went to the mountains last weekend and we spent it eating great food, playing table tennis, badminton, chess, cleaning the house and taking trips in the mountains. I will focus on the dinner we cooked on Friday, when we arrived.

Cheese, olive and tomato snack

by viviana on August 23, 2012 in Ovo Lacto,Salads

I am a strong advocate of food design. I think that there is no one on this planet who can resist a beautifully designed dish. I was showing a smart 17 year old lady some photos I took on March 8, 2012 in our office, when we celebrated Women’s Day (link here) and she told me: “you can feel the taste of the sweets in these photos”.

I agree. There are platters of food that just make your mouth water. There are cakes and pastry in window shops that just make you die to have one! Here is a beautiful salad I arranged for my daughter. She had it for breakfast, but it can be served at any time of the day.

Greek yogurt, honey and walnuts dessert

by viviana on August 6, 2012 in Desserts

We toured Greece in 2005, and I still have the most beautiful memories from that trip :). One of the culinary highlights of our trip was the wonderful yogurt, honey and walnuts dessert. The Greeks use a sort of thick and sourish yogurt that beautifully contrasts with the sweetness of honey. Since then, I have been serving this dessert to my daughter, Granny and guests and I have to admit, I have used it (just like in Greece) as a nice ending to my daughter’s breakfast or dinner sometimes.

Pizza without yeast

by viviana on August 2, 2012 in Mains

My daughter requested pizza for dinner, so I decided to go for pizza with baking powder. Same thing as regular yeast pizza, the only difference being that you don’t need to wait 2 hours for the dough to grow.
