DEPECHE MODE TOTU MEMORIES (3/6) – BUDAPEST!
The memories from Budapest, Hungary are so vivid! I remember being greeted by 2 wonderful friends of mine at the airport (it was my pleasure to share my Depeche Mode experience with Octa and Gabi) and enjoying the drive in our Logan to the hotel. The weather was really bad, cloudy and cold for that time of the year, but the music on my ipod made us all cheer!
Well, the local beer we had on the day we arrived, the nice hotel, smoking on that tiny tiny balcony, watching the mafiosi across the street (!), Octavian’s new pants, standing and watching Depeche Mode in the heavy rain (like really heavy!), Dave dancing and singing in the rain (especially Peace), dragging my wet boots after the concert (I guess they weighed around 5 kilos each). This is what I wrote a few days after the concert in Budapest. The Depeche Mode concert in Hungary was the only one we drove back from. We could have attended the one in Bulgaria as well (we had tickets) but, unfortunately, it got canceled. Oh, well…
Next stop, BARCELONA!

I particularly remember Budapest under constant rain showers – when you least expect it, the concert as a perfect experience, beer, goulash – and come to think of that, I’m going to Budapest again and goulash is not on the top of my list. Or on any list, now that I’m a vegetarian. Neither is beer at midnight, it’s an abstemious year.

O.
I also remembered DEPECHE MODE being extensively played in that restaurant where I stood up as usual and thanked an imaginary Dj for playing my music. Now that you mentioned some things, some other memories are coming back to me… Like starting planning to go to Berlin to see Depeche Mode in Jan 2010. Do you remember the excitement? We were walking in the street towards the hotel and I mentioned the show was sold out? Hehe… God I was lucky!
Hey! I’m not one for surprises, you know I like things well-planned and in apple-pie order. And I know I was not part of the Berlin team, but you were on good hands and having read your review/s I know you enjoyed the show immensely.
